On this page, we are going to discuss steps to configure TP-range extender of Wireless network available at home. The steps which we are going to mention today will work for all TP-link models. In case you find any problem, you can contact Wi-Fi extender support.
- If you are getting the problem in connecting the extender to the router using the WPS button, then this guide will solve your problem.
- If you are getting only single frequency band on dual-band product or your router is not configuring on Extender using WPS button, then you will find the solution on the mywifiextnet
Step 1: Plug the range extender to the power outlet. You must place the extender near the router or access point. Press the WPS button from the Router, then immediately press the same button from range extender.
Note: The time duration allowed for pressing the WPS button from the range extender after that of Router is only 2 minutes. If you have crossed the time limit, then you will not be able to connect to the AP.
Important: When you press the WPS button of Router, the WPS LED will blink on Router hardware. If you find that the light doesn’t blink, then you are required to press the WPS button from Router AP. The same thing is applicable to extender models also. If you notice no light blink on range extender, then press the WPS button again.
Step 2: The WPS process will take 2 minutes so you need to wait for 2 minutes. Check the signal LED to the range extender. If it is blinking, then it means the connection is in progress. If it is stable, then you are connected to the router successfully.
Step 3: If you notice the wireless signal LED to a range extender is still off, then you have to perform the WPS function again. You may probably require to repeat the same steps more than once. In case of any problem, you can contact the Wi-Fi support team.
Step 4: After this, you can place the range extender at the point where you can receive maximum signal strength. You can now enjoy the same network and speed in different rooms at your home. You can download or upload any stuff without any speed issue of the network.
Step 5: If you are getting the problem in connecting the Range extender to the Router using WPS button, then click on the link which says, ‘How Can I transfer the settings from the router using Wi-Fi connection’. There can be a number of things which can create an issue with the WPS.
Part B: At last, if you are not being able to connect the dual-band range extender to the router 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency band using WPS button, then this problem is mainly due to Range extender or Router connection.
For your information, we want to mention here that you can connect your range extender to the 2.4 GHz and to the 5 GHz band depending on your choice or preference. If you want high signal strength at least distance, then you can prefer 5 GHz band to 2.5 GHz band.
